Over the weekend I went into Boston to attend Design Salon’s annual Holiday Sale. I met some of my favorite designers I have discovered through blogs and etsy. Jill Bent creates beautiful handmade pillows, sachets, scarves, bags, and clothes pin dolls (above). Each piece is skillfully constructed in vintage fabrics and sumptuous natural yarns. Jill is the sweetest and I can’t wait to learn more about her through her blog: 36shea.blogspot.com. Buy her goods online at: jillbent.etsy.com.
I’ve spent some late nights online eyeing Carta’s beautiful ribbons imported from Italy (below). How can one resist scrolling alphabet ribbon? Carta recently introduced a new line of cards depicting the scrolling alphabet ribbon; cards are available as sets online through her etsy shop. Carta is run by talented book designer Angela Liguori, check out her blog for more beautiful inspiration: angelaliguori.blogspot.com.
Both of these lovely ladies will be showing their wares at multiple shows in the Boston area through December. Check out their blogs for more information.

Red Calligraphy on Lavender Paper

I never really talk about wedding invites. The image above caught my eye. A lavender card engraved with scrolling diagonal red script. The marbled interior is really stunning. Kinda funky and different. Check out 49 more inspiring invitations over at marthstewart.com.

Many of you feel in love with Rie Elise Larsen’s pleated lampshades I posted yesterday. I found diy instructions on marthastewart.com so that we can all make our own. Super easy. Basically you fold decorative paper accordian style, holes are punches around the shade, and a string is threaded through the holes to pull the shade together. See the full instructions here.
Need a source for decorative paper to make the shades? Try Paper Source for a large selection of Japanese, Indian, and European papers. A few of my favorites below. Also try using wrapping paper, wallpaper, or paper you have hand stamped. Have fun!

I am totally in love with all of these floral paper boxes by Bungalow. The boxes are available in different sizes and shapes. The color and patterns are so happy and lively. I love how color makes me feel.
p.s. yes I did just revise this post…but now it’s better!
