Flat Stanley Project: Marblehead, MA

This morning I was working on a Flat Stanley project for my niece. I really don’t know much about the history behind Flat Stanley. I just know it’s a book and I guess Stanley travels. I showed him the sights here in Marblehead. Lots of photos of boats, lobster pots, and buoys. I wanted to show Stanley all the great things you find in a New England coastal town. The weather was a bit crumby and rainy. I hope my niece thinks the photos are funny! A few of my favorites above and below. See more here.

I annouced the release of Wayne Pate’s Jacques print about a month ago. Wayne has outdone himself and added a new coordinating Sammy Seagull print to his shop. Nautical prints are a total favorite of mine. Totally cute in a kids’ room or nursery. Just $35 each for a silkscreen print.

Back from Long Weekend/Egg Photos

I’m back from my long weekend in New York. It was great to spend some time with my nieces. Sunday morning we decorated eggs, made biscuits together, and invite their friends over for an easter egg hunt. My older niece spotted her mom hiding the eggs in the backyard. She ran into the kitchen declaring to her dad, “I figured it out!” Our excuse? The easter bunny doesn’t have time to hide them all. So he leaves a basket for moms and dads to hide. She may caught on next year but how nice is it to believe a giant bunny brings everyone treats? So what if it’s a bit silly!

Today is my niece’s sixth birthday. Happy Birthday Emma! I’m still working on her birthday gift—I’m the queen of late gifts. I did send a card! That crazy crewel fabric I found at Zimmans had me thinking about this great kids’ room designed by Fawn Galli. The caption from domino reads, “I made the headboard and bedskirt from an Indian blanket. Kelly Greeson bought the rooster lamp from a flea market in Nice, France. “

If you haven’t picked up the new issue of Martha Stewart Living go pick it up now! Featured in this month’s issue are some of the brillant designers that work in the crafts department. Lauren Normandin makes these adorable handmade dolls and crotched flower hair pins. She sells her amazing crafts on etsy.com or follow her crafting adventurous on her blog. When I was cruising around her main website, wrenhandmade.com I found an amazing section of artwork by Lauren. She is one crafty girl. Don’t miss her crochet section on her blog.
