Bauer Pottery Company

I love the vintage quality of these ceramics from Baurer Pottery Company. Baurer is actually a vintage brand that has been recently revived in Southern California.

"Starting in Louisville, Kentucky, and then flourishing in Los Angeles, California, J. A. Bauer Pottery Company created simple, yet beautiful stoneware from the late 1880s to the early 1960s. With lines ranging from redware flowerpots to brilliantly colored dinnerware, Bauer Pottery was a staple in American homes for many decades. Today, the work of J.A. Bauer has been reintroduced by a ceramics studio in Los Angeles, located just minutes from the original plant. The new Bauer line, Bauer 2000, is being produced using original pieces as models, with an emphasis on items originally manufactured by Bauer in the 1930s and 40s."

Any of the pieces would be amazing for backyard summer party. Find out more about Bauer and to purchase products featured here: bauerpottery.com.

Mosaic House

I popped in into Mosaic House which is pretty much next door to the Baking Supply store. This place is a big kid's candy shop. All the tiles are amazing and gorgeous! I can't wait to have a house to cover an entryway or bathroom with any of these. I took a couple shots in the shop. I was really drawn to a tile called, "fleurs"-looks like fish scales (below). Totally check out the website which is way better then my shots: mosaichse.com.

From left: Crochet Peacock in dark brown, 7.5 x 10.5", $84. Crochet Tree in dark brown, 7.5 x 10.5", $84.

My sister has been asking me for some fun gift ideas for her artsy friends and their kids. My first thought was Xenia Taler. Really pretty and electic tiles that can be hung or used as a trivets. For the kids, Xenia makes these great boxes out of tiles. I know my 4-year old niece would love putting her special fairy jewels inside. The boxes feel kinda grown up and they would oh so sweet sitting on her dresser.
