It was cold in rainy here in New York for the past couple of days. We definitely all needed to add a few extra Spring layers. It seemed like everyone in the office and on the streets was sporting some kind of ethnicy looking wrap. How about these 100% cotton Scarves and cover ups handmade in Ethiopia? Eve Robinson

The 2008 Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse is now underway in New York. You can purchase tickets here to check out the great event. I want to reminisce a bit about last year's Showhouse before we jumped into 2008.

My favorite room last year belong the room designed by Eve Robinson. The room was so lush, elegant, and airy. The simple palette of creams, browns, slate blues, and charteurse green accents felt clean and classic in the space. A favorite was the large slate blue curtains which help anchor the large windows in the space. A close second was the gorgeous felt wool carpet made up of large squares that were hemmed-stiched together. I felt like I was walking on clouds. Check out more of Eve Robinson's porfolio: everobinson.net.

You can purchase prints from House & Garden for as little as $189. The store has hundreds of prints to choose from. Some the images and covers date back to the 1920's. I've included a few of my favorites above and below. Check out the store: condenaststore.com.

Offbeat Vases

I was going to try to incorporate this post with the last about Nicolette but there was just too many amazing flowers to share. In the May issue of Domino, Nicolette also did the floral styling for a "In The Vase" piece using common vessels you can find around the house. Nicolette arranged some gorgeous small pieces in teacups, bottles, and bowls that you could easily create at home. To check out more visit: dominomag.com.

Nicolette Camille

Nicolette was recently featured on Design*Sponge where Grace was equally impressed! I love the floppy romantic bouquets that incorporate just the right about of texture and color. Another great source I am filing away for when I get married. Absolutely stunning Nicolette! Check out more of Nicolette: nicolettecamille.com.

Mexican Market Bags

I have an obsession with cheap plastic colorful bags. I just can't resist buying them. When I was in college I had tons that I used to carry my art supplies. The bags were so cheap that I never worried about a little charcoal or paint destroying them. Nowadays, I stash a few in the car for impromptu shopping trips or the farmer's market. The colors totally fit my vibrant style. Prices range from $4.15 to $8.80 each. Check out more: directfrommexico.com.

Gary Komarin

Someone at House & Garden gave me a book on Gary Komarin a years or so ago. At first, I was kinda whatever about the paintings. But then I realized they are a lot my own paintings. They express a weird abstracted figurative language. Plains of colors and marks are aggressive and feel as though they are made with little regret. I like this guy I realized. I also dig that he uses a lot of pink. My favorite color to work with. He worked under Philip Guston in as a student—you totally feel the influence from Guston's earlier work. John Pomp

I don't collect a lot of knick knacks. I tend to buy a lot paintings, prints, photographs which it seems lately I have no my room for. I do get kinda weak in the knees for John Pomp's blown glass pieces. The bright colors are right of my alley. Every piece would mix well with my art pieces. But what one would I choose? All of them are gorgeous! I think the beehive (three at bottom of post) are my favorite. The shape reminds me of pieces my mom use to collect when I was kid. The glass would be stunning a sun filled room.

Design*Sponge did a great interview with John last year check it out here: designpsongeonline.com. To check out more of John's work visit: johnpomp.com. Pieces can be purchased from John by e-mailing a request.

Animal Printed Cards

I have a five-year old niece who is at the perfect age of wanting to know everything about the world. The kid amazes me with the things she remembers. She knows every dinosaur name by heart and she can identify every new blossoming plant in her garden. When I saw these cards I totally thought of our budding naturalist. The prints would be great framed as a set in her bedroom (would be awesome for a non-gender nursery too!). If I had discovered them last month I would have used them as invitations to her animal themed birthday party at Rye Nature Center.

Designed by illustrator Matt Cipov each card is sold in a assorted set of four, $16.00. Each print measures 4" x 6" and is individually hand-stamped and customized. Check out more at: threepotatofour.com.
