Amethyst Glass Lamp

ochre cherub lamp Amethyst Glass Lamp

I have been eyeing this specific lamp for years. Seriously. While I was doing my morning blog cruising I came across a glass lamp round-up on Remodelista. I was scrolling down thinking seen it, seen it, and then the Cherub lamp (my favorite from Ochre) and it was on sale for $225 marked down from $800 (update: no longer on sale after march 7th)! After about two hours of mulling it over, I called Ochre with full intentions of buying just one and then I went for it and bought a pair! This is totally unlike me to be so nonchalant about a big decorating purchase. As you all know…how long it took me to pick my molding color, ha! But I think they’ll be beautiful as a set in my bedroom or maybe one in the den with the green molding? So exciting.

I’ve never been a big fan of glass base lamps, but when I saw that one on the Remodelista roundup I too thought it was gorgeous. That amethyst would look pretty great with whichever green you choose for your den. I look forward to seeing where you put them.

Sometimes it’s just great to just go for it and treat yourself. If you’ve been thinking about it for years you will probably enjoy these lamps for many years to come! Also lamps are always better as a pair!

Ochre has great stuff, a bit on the high end. They also own Canvas which has a similar style with a lower price point. http://shop.ochrestore.com/

Both stores have great earthy pieces – major fav of all design bloggers!

I hear ya Amy Good House. Always better to buy in pairs, you have a lot more options. Exactly what I was thinking in mid-sentence of ordering one!

That’s an amazing deal! One of those gotta pounce moments. I’ve let some of those slip and regretted it. You’ll always make use of these no matter what room they migrate to!

you totally deserve this. and sometimes you just know a piece is totally your bag and you MUST buy it. i still agonize over a vintage sofa with a gorgeous viole fabric with a art nouveau bird print. if you love it, you have to go for it!

i really love the ethereal, tranquil quality the glass base of the lamp gives. so many decorating options with those babies! and those shades (silk?) tie the contemporary design back in with a more historic, classic home. perfect!

Ooh, it reminds me of those old crystal doorknobs with the manganese in them that turn violet over decades in the sun! There are little glass bricks in some of the sidewalks in Seattle made out of those, and the color is so very nostalgic!

You’re right Ginger! Super similar. I have a photo of an old window in boston that’s the exact same purple: http://www.katyelliott.com/blog/2008/05/afternoon-in-beacon-hill-boston.html (wrote back when i was house hunting!)

KATY! these are gorgeous, and i love that you went for the pair. i feel like lamps are one of those things that are better in pairs. AND, i wouldn’t say you were non-chalant about it if you’ve had your eye on them forever. though i know the feeling. i finally just sprang for a kitchenaid mixer with part of my tax refund, since i’ve been wanting one for ages. so it feels like i’m spoiling myself. also, love the colors for the den. it’s going to look so great! come on, spring!!

Hey guys! It looks like this lamp is no longer on sale. Maybe they sold out of their overstock and only have special order available? Not sure. If your interested I would still trying calling the shop.

I so want these, they’re beautiful. I feel like I’m always admiring amethyst-glass lamps and I never buy them when I see them. You’ve inspired me to remedy that soon.
