July 4th: Cannons & Fireworks
Posted on | July 6, 2010 | 8 Comments
The weekend was perfect. Great weather, food, and fireworks. Greg finally got the mast stepped on the boat (third time is a charm) and took her out for a sail on Saturday night.
On Sunday, we watched the fireworks from our favorite little neighborhood beach. Kids ran up and down the beach, jumping in and out of the freezing cold water as the sunset. Pretty idyllic, right?
Throughout the weekend cannons could be heard going off all over town morning and night. When we were down at the beach for the fireworks a guy was shooting off a small one. He told me the wood used to make his cannon was from the USS Constitution, fancy—it was an engagement present. Below two videos from our night.

looks like so much fun. i wanted to see fireworks, but they were on the wrong side of manhattan (jersey), so we didn’t see much. i think small towns have it all figured out.

Did you get to see the harbor illumination? Marblehead is the place to be on the 4th. I think we even got a mention in Coastal Living.

Love the pics and video, although when I played the video my two and half year old, Benny, ran from the room screaming, “No pop-pops, No pop-pops!!”
