East Hampton: Stripes, Wood, and Marble

east hampton 02 East Hampton: Stripes, Wood, and Marble

I’ve had these photos on my desktop all afternoon. Discovered via the lovely Jane at Ill Seen, Ill Said. I really love spool chairs and I love this version with stripes. I keep seeing spool chairs over and over. I gotta get one!

I also want a ticking stripe sofa. My first love appeared in domino in a camel back version. Oh and check out the girly flower chair in the back of the room. The upholstery reminds of the Rose Tarlow floral I feel in love with a few months ago. Adding a pretty floral chair to my list!

Two more. A gorgeous marble bathroom from the same house in East Hampton. So fancy! And below a traditional four-drawer dresser. Totally my style. Would love one for every room in my house.

So dreamy! I have an English-style sofa that needs a slipcover, and your post has inspired me. Love the pinstripes and little border around the bottom. Oh, and I’ll take the dresser, too. And the landscape painting in pic 1!

I really enjoy your blog. Laughed out loud at the mulch post. You have good comic timing in your writing!

Nice plumbing. I wonder if they got that sink from Urban Archeaology.

Here’s a conundrum: Who makes an attractive toilet? I never see any I like. The tanks sit too low. Should I look for a salvage one? Or is that just asking for trouble?

I love the warmth of color and the open, airy feeling of the top room. Beautiful.

I love that console sink. It’s reminiscent of the sinks in The Breakers in Newport. 1895? 2010? Gorgeous design is always gorgeous design.

(And I also want a ticking stripe sofa.)

Katy, I was just rereading some of your old posts. Re the floral wallpaper you found on the second floor, I bet one of the wallpaper reproduction companies would copy it exactly for you. I bet it probably isn’t even that expensive! Or at least no more expensive than something like Timorous Beasties. I recently dealt with Adelphi Wallhangings. They are so incredibly nice and kind. Also Carson & Co is another with reasonable off the shelf prices that does custom reproduction.

I have serious house envy – do you think they’d mind if I moved in?

Funny you should mention seeing the spool chair over and over! I just scanned the new Motif catalog and they have – could be this one. Good post!

This is such a peaceful and tranquil looking room, it makes me want to work towards having one of my own someday… that might have to wait until I have more space than a 1br apt however :) Thank you!

Do you have any idea what that paint color is? It is so soothing, I just love it!
