Bark Mulch, Flag, and Planter

Yeah! I’m all done with work for the week. I hope everyone is wrapping up their work and getting ready to relax for the long Memorial Day weekend. Have you ever tried this beer called, Pork Slap Pale Ale (available at Haley’s in mhead)? Greg and I are both loving it and who doesn’t love to drink a beer with two pigs belly slapping on it? Ok maybe you don’t but it’s funny nonetheless.

My mulch came this afternoon. I ordered 2 yards, not sure if that was too much or not? I ran outside to do some test spreading but then I got tired. You gotta take things slow on a holiday weekend, right? Above and below photos of the garden, mulch, my zinc planter, and our new flag— which is hung bizarrely high; I’ll have to move the bracket.

Have a great long weekend. Next week I’ll return with some fun summer potluck recipes. I’m the queen of cold side salads! Make some Maine Whoopie Pies or a Rhubarb Galette to tied yourself over; both are pretty darn delicious for a summery weekend.

I’m totally in love with this lupine blooming in my garden. Doesn’t it look ombre? I love how the light petal pink blends to a darker hot pink. So pretty!

I’ve decided on pea gravel as a temporary fix for our patio/driveway. I still need to call around for estimates to find how expensive my ‘temporary fix’ really is. Stay tuned…

I’ve started to think about outdoor furniture. I definitely want a long table not round. I have a ridiculous amount of festive rectangular tablecloths I’ve been dying to use—Yup, that’s me at the John Robshaw sample sales buying every pattern! I tell myself I will give them as gifts. Sorry guys, I’m hoarding them. They like living with me…

Some inspiration above and below. Love the top table discovered via {frolic!}. I’m thinking I want a white table with two benches and two cafe chairs. I saw a cute set on Pottery Barn but now it’s suddenly unavailable? Another cool and kinda affordable set over at West Elm caught my eye too. I wish I could make the table but we don’t have a table saw and it might take me all summer to finish. I’ll keep searching.
