eggs for paint inspiration Inspired By Eggs & Sofra

I picked up a pack of fresh beautiful eggs from Siena Farms at Sofra in Cambridge this afternoon. I now know what color I really want to paint my walls, Araucana. The Araucana is a breed of chickens that lay beautiful blue/green eggs.

I know Martha Stewart carries a paint color called, Araucana but it looks a little too teal.
When I held the Araucana egg up to my paint samples it was really close in color to Verte De Terre from Farrow & Ball. The egg was just a few shades lighter.

Below my super yum lunch I shared with fellow blogger, Kate Flaim at Sofra. We had a blast trying out different flatbreads and sweets. My falafel style flatbread had a really interesting beet spread. Above and below photos of my eggs and lunch.

So good! We just ate all those goodies for dinner. Next time I think I’ll buy a Sofra picnic and take it into Mt Auburn.

Sofra is so yummy! And I love everything that Siena Farms has to offer – their stand at the Copley Square farmers’ market is great. They grow and sell things that I’ve never seen anywhere else, like cone-shaped mini cabbages. Now I can’t wait for the market season to begin in Boston!

I totally heart Sofra. I live right down the street, and my husband jokes that we are single-handedly keeping them in business.

Horray Cambridge! The color of eggs is so inspirational… browns, whites, creams, greens, blues…. What brought you down to Camb?

I love Sofra. You should check out Ana Sortun’s other restaurant–Oleana–too. Totally delish. I recommend wandering in on a weeknight and finding a spot at the bar.

I have been looking for the exact same color as you! Why is it that everyone loves it but nobody makes it?

    Lily,

The egg color is actually really close to Farrow & Ball’s Cooking Apple Green and Verte De Terre. And I love how F&B have a really natural chalky tone like the egg.

    Jess R,

So funny you say that about because that’s exactly what we did a few years ago. I had no idea what Oleana was. It was late and we just stumpled in and had a great light dinner at the bar.

I was just in the area of Sofra this week, delivering flowers.

Do they always have eggs from the farm available at Sofra????

    Jennifer,

I assume they do. When I did some investigating last night. I realized Sienna Farms is owned by Sofra’s husband. A husband/wife team. It looks like they get majority of their produce from Sienna Farms. So I imagine they have the eggs all the time. How perfect and adorable.

    Hope that helps,

    Katy

Well, that’s awesome! I will have to check in with them and get some eggs! Locally grown/harvested is the way to go!

Thanks so much for the info!!!!!:)

I’m off to deliver flowers for an event!
