DSC 19841 Cotton Prints from V&A Quilt Show

Miss Chelsea over at {frolic!} tipped me off to this fabric. The fabric is part of a quilt show at the Victoria & Albert museum in London. The fabrics above were reprinted by Liberty from old quilts from the early 1800’s and can be purchased through their site.

My mom is making me a quilt using some of my favorite prints with a box of fabrics Greg’s mom gave me before she passed away a few years ago. I want the quilt to be a scrap style showcasing my favorite prints including some beautiful floral liberty prints. It’s going to be pricey to gather all the fabrics but I know it will be something I will treasure for the rest of my life. Below a few quilts featured in the show at the Victoria & Albert museum through July 4, 2010.

What a nice mom you have!

I have three quilts from my mom that I are some of my favorite reminders of her. What a treasured gift.

These quilts are fantastic – and I love the limited edition fabric. I think the idea of collecting little pieces of extraordinary fabric to put into one special quilt is great.

I remember learning how to quilt when I was about 9 years old. I thought it was the most boring thing EVER at the time and have been scarred for life ever since. I wish I had the patience to make such beautiful things. My mother-in-law made one for each of her two boys whilst she was pregnant – really sweet!

wow, that quilt is going to be a treasure! I asked my mom once if she would ever make me a quilt and she said she doesn’t have the patience for anything more than knitting. your mom is so sweet to take on the challenge. love those fabrics you found!

I wish I could visit the Museum for this show. Even just these three quilts are stunning. It’s so cool that Liberty is printing some of the old patterns, too. I’m so glad you posted this!

Hi Katy…Were the quilts shown in your photos taken from the VA Museum website? I am interested to know where I might see more of the quilt featured in the middle photo.
