When I saw the first picture, I thought it was a box – that you would place on your coffee table (a jewel box). Then I realized it was a ice house! It’s design would make a beautiful box! Always thinking about great accessories. M.

these are so simple and wonderful. I’ve always heard that the pitcher’s mound is the loneliest place in the world, but I’d say it’s an ice shanty.

These are gorgeous! Who would have thought and ice shanty could look so good. I’m too far south in New England (Northeastern CT) for the lakes to freeze like this, you occasionally see a few guys out there but no shanties. Thanks for sharing and I’m going to need to find a copy of Maine magazine, it looks great online.

I always wondered what happened to the ones I saw falling through the ice during a fast thaw. I grew up in Maine in Lake Region and remember seeing this happen often.

Oh wow! What gorgeous images! I love the stillness and quietness of them. I think I am a bit obsessesed with all the gorgeous snowy images I’m seeing on lots of blogs right now… having only ever experienced snow maybe 3 times in my life!
It’s made my day seeing these. So beautiful!
