Green Wood Stairs

Our house has crazy old stairs just like these. Just about everyone that comes over remarks how I should rip them out. No way! I love them even if they are kinda hard to get up and down. Someday, I would love to paint the treads green. I’ve had the above photo in my inspiration file for awhile. Yesterday, I came across another beautiful set of stairs over at Remodelista. Love the dark olive green.

Oh, I love these inspiration photos. I just moved and don’t have any stairs anymore. I miss them.

Keep the stairs and paint them like the first photo—it’s to die for! Clearly your guests just don’t have your eye for design : )

Both of these are awesome, but I am so drawn to the top photo. I love the softness of the green, it is so inviting and refreshing, but still cozy. I love the crazy stairs in old houses!

Don’t rip them out! You never find architecture like that in new homes! And I def. say paint them!

Don’t worry I’m not ripping them out. It’s just that they are really hard to get up and down and no furniture can fit up them.

I have a set of curved stairs just like that in my kitchen, and I fought hard to keep them when we demo’d nearly everything else. I also have the same picture with the light green treads in my inspiration files for, well, when I get that far in our renovation!

I know you spend a lot of time in Maine… Have you been to French & Van Dyke Antiques in Wiscasset? I love the stairs in their newly renovated barn. They aren’t green, but they have gorgeous cream-colored treads and white risers that are very striking.

Fortunately (I guess!) it’s not a color decision I have to make any time soon…

I love the first photo. We live in a old house with similar stairs paired with a slanted ceiling so you need to duck your head at the top!
