The Hubble & Candy Art
Posted on | September 14, 2009 | 6 Comments

It rained all day Saturday. I got kinda stir crazy. I kept thinking about my black/color background idea. Images from the Hubble telescope kept appearing on all over the web which had me thinking about it even more.
On a side note–did you know at the center of every galaxy is a black hole? I’ve been geeking out and watching a lot of Nova.
Anyway…back to my color brainstorming. It was raining and I was bored. At the time it seemed like a brillant idea to make some collages inspired by the Hubble using candy. I spent about $3 and got a handful of penny candy to test out my color combo theory. I had a lot fun creating the designs. See my creations below.

I love this idea!
I could see a whole series of these, recreating different specific galaxies (fellow space nerd alert.)
And are those Razzles?

Oh yes, my friend those are Razzles paired with Nerds and Chiclet gum. This would be a great project for you! Share what you make!

My boyfriend wishes he was an astrophysicist…. Nova is a way of life for us! Haha! But really, the craziness and amazingness of the universe is breathtaking.
I can’t remember if this is theory, speculation or what, but I remember Eric saying something about there being tiny tiny black holes everywhere! There are things that I can’t even get my mind around…..

When i was in third grade I wanted to an astronaut when I grew up. Turns out I suck at math….
