The pictures are beautiful. Great story about the elegant (but unfortunately delapidated) brick house that you see in the background of the Ropes Mansion garden. It was owned by a contrary old Yankee until his recent death. When a movie was filmed in and around the garden in the 1970s---a period piece set in the early 19th century---the director asked that the owners of adjacent homes remove all 20th century items from view. The day of the shooting, this man filled every window of his house with electronic stuff---radios, fans, etc...every 20th century gadget he could get his hands on!
