I really want to visit Monticello. Seeing it through Maira Kalman’s eyes makes me want to go even more.

These are really cool.
I visited Monticello for the first time last year and loved it. I also went to Montpelier, James Madison's home which is 20 miles away, and just outside the cutest town called Orange. Montpelier is currently being restored, so its interesting from a construction standpoint, and there is a great walled garden behind the house that dates to the Duponts or which ever wealthy family owned it. Monticello's vegetable gardens & orchards were my favorite part. I love to see what people grew and ate in the past.
