New Find! Vintage Steele Canvas Basket
Posted on | March 12, 2009 | 9 Comments

I picked up this canvas basket a few weeks ago. The canvas was pretty dirty and in need of some cleaning. Reminded me of industrial storage but at the same time felt nautical. The piece has the same kinda vibe as the J.Crew’s Liquor Store in New York. Andy Spade consulted on styling the space. I love what ever that look is actually called. So will this go into my new store or stay and live with me?

In your comments you questioned whether this new piece would go to your new store or stay and live with you…Do you have a new store in Marblehead?

you ought to try and save some pieces of your old torn wallpaper swatches and frame them to hang in the new room as a nod to the past. i had a friend who renovated and found 6! layers of wallpaper, so she hung 6 framed squares of the previous wallpapers around her dining room. it was a wonderful result, and a respectful nod to the house's past.
ps. ive been following your blog lately.. love the renovation posts! and all the inspiring eye candy.

The image of the store? Click on the link to find out more. The store image is an image of the J.Crew Liquor Store in New York. http://www.katyelliott.com/blog/2008/09/jcrew-at-liquor-store.html"

bethany,
I plan on doing just as you suggested. I have a whole box of things I have found from each room that will eventually get displayed in frames and shadow boxes.
Here's a link to a few other objects I have found in the house and written about on my blog. http://www.katyelliott.com/blog/labels/found%20objects.html
