Photoblogging?
Posted on | January 12, 2009 | 15 Comments

I wanted to start a new blog inspired by 3191’s project. Except my photos will be a selection of two photos by me: one from the morning and one from the evening. I started my the blog on my Blogger account (which is what I use for this blog). What a mess; I hate blogger. Everything I update over at rise to set is effecting my main blog. urg. I am thinking about putting the photoblog on wordpress. Does anyone have any suggestions for blog platforms that are especially great for photos? Below are three groups of photo that should go up on my new blog! I am totally frustrated so any help is appreciated!

I'm useless with a camera, but I've been told that Tumblr is good for photoblogging. http://www.tumblr.com/
Lovely photos by the way!

I have a couple of friends who photoblog, but they use blogger. One: http://itsjusthowiseethings.blogspot.com/ and the other is: http://sherahgphotography.blogspot.com
But I know I personally hate uploading photos to blogger… it annoys me every time!
I have other friends who seem to love Wordpress and don't have any trouble (theirs are blocked by passwords or I'd give you a link).
That's all I know… hope it's helpful.

Tumblr's great for photoblogging. Check out http://endofmarch.tumblr.com or http://londonshopfronts.tumblr.com, for example.

I've heard Tumblr is good, too. It looks pretty easy to manage. I see a lot of people with Wordpress, though, too… I guess I wasn't very helpful!

i've been playing with tumblr for the past two months. it is INCREDIBLY easy to use (especially compared to blogger). for better or for worse, wordpress seems to require more effort upfront. but tumblr takes two seconds to setup and is definitely worth your trying out. keep us posted!

Not sure about blog platform, but Katy, these are gorgeous photos. Are they yours? Will you make me a one for my new house?

Yes! They are all mine! They are photos I have taken over the last few days.

Thanks guys for all your help.
So I should try wordpress, tumblr, or photblog?
Which one to choose?

Depends what you're into. I like Wordpress because you can migrate from a free account to 'pay a little' (and change your template manually) to super tech savvy (with wordpress.org). Plus, the tech support is pretty good, from wordpress staff to other blog networks.
If you just want a simple photo stream, then tumblr may work out great for you.
What are your issues exactly? I'm happy to talk more off line, too.

It's a long story about my issues with blogger. Basically I like to hand code the template. My blog here is really old from 2005 which works different then the newer versions of blogger.
I guess I will try out tumblr. Let you know how it goes!

ok I tried tumblr. It's so easy its stupid. Tumblr is very straightforward and simple. I wouldn't really call it a blogging but more of scrapbooking.
I hate that I can't post date stories. I usually write at night to post for the next day. Also, the photos are too small. I guess it's fine for now. But I think I am going to try wordpress.
