 Vintage Welsh Blankets

Vintage Welsh Carthens

I just feel in love with these vintage Welsh blankets. I found them on the UK site, Re-FoundObjects.co.uk. The shop is full of vintage finds: elegant glassware, lighting, and textiles. For now I will bask in the glow of my newest obsession. I have to see what else I can dig up on Welsh blankets. I am so in love with the colors and patterning.

Saw your Dec 16 post on Welsh blankets (was googling them because I want to cover some cushions for these great beat-up French club chairs we just bought). Anyway, saw your mention about Re Found objects and had to right. My husband and I went there last fall, it is such a wonderful store and the tiny little village and surrounding countryside are spectacular. Thanks for reminding me!

I was wondering if anyone had any information on the general history on the welsh blanket. I'm doing some research and can't seemed to find any.

I would probably try finding a book in your library or on amazon. I had a book about different stripes in history that covered welsh blankets.
