I'd like to learn more about how you use wax with oils. Do you share your secrets?

I use cold wax that is available at most art stores like Pearl Paints. The cold wax is mixed with oil paint and then is layered on the canvas. It forms a substance that resembles cake icing.

I apply the color to the canvas using my hands. Images are then manipulated using a series of knives to scrape and form the images.

Can cold wax be used with acrylic paints too?

I don't think you can use cold wax with acrylic. I would image it wouldn't combine together well.

I will investigate more.

So cold wax can not be mixed with acrylic paints. I just don't think it would mix.

Cold Wax Medium is a soft paste formulated to make oil colors thicker and more matte. Cold Wax Medium is made with beeswax, resin, and mineral spirits.
